Surreal Tutorial Review

Enchanted Rose by Adriana Ibarra 

The Photoshop surreal landscape I decided on creating was written by Melody Nieves and posted here in this tutorial called How to Create an Enchanted Rose Photo Manipulation in Adobe Photoshop. It took quite sometime to complete it, but I am pretty satisfied by my result. The instructions were pretty easy to follow, although, I was confused on a part in step two where I had to bend the rose so it wasn't so straight. It didn't quite specify on how this could be done so I had to figure it out on my own. Future warnings for those wanting to try this tutorial, I suggest finding other brushes on a free brush website because the ones recommended on the tutorial are ones that require money. Other than that, I think that it was pretty straightforward to follow. I think this type of photoshop tutorial was intended for intermediate users, simply by how tedious it is, I like to make things perfect and if it's not what I see on the tutorial, I restart my steps. I believe it was pretty interesting because of how I absolutely love the Beauty and the Beast movie and the iconic flower in the glass. Learning how to create one was something I looked forward to. In terms of sticking to the directions or modifying it, I did a little bit of both. Towards the end I ended up liking the way my flower looked and so I didn't add anymore color adjustments or fix the brightness/ contrast. So if you feel like your masterpiece is beautiful, you don't need to add more! It's up to you on how you want it to look.

Overall, I give it a 5/5! it was very fun to make. Keep in mind the tutorial doesn't instruct to add the white highlight outlining the roses so make sure to add that too. This is a great tutorial and should be of value to participants wanting to learn how to create surreal art.
